Dr Arunangshu Mukherjee is a Senior Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with 30 years of experience and subspecialty focus in Lower Limb Arthroplasty, Knee and Shoulder Arthroscopy, and Complex Musculoskeletal Trauma. He currently runs an independent consultancy practice in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

His career spans India, the United Kingdom and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Most recently, he served as Senior Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Indore (2023—2025). Prior to that he worked for over seven years as an Orthopaedic Surgeon (Speciality Doctor) at Borders General Hospital, Melrose, Scotland, within the UK National Health Service (2015—2023), and as Clinical Fellow in Navigation Arthroplasty at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital, Glasgow (2014—2015).

In India, Dr Mukherjee served for 18 years at MGM Medical College & MY Hospital, Indore — rising from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor and Head of Orthopaedics Unit II (1998—2016). He also worked as an Orthopaedic Specialist with the Ministry of Health, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (2002—2003), and as Registrar in Orthopaedics at Choithram Hospital, Indore (1997—1998).

He completed his MBBS from MGM Medical College, Indore (1991), his MS in Orthopaedic Surgery from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal (1996), and his PhD from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore (2016) — with a thesis on novel biochemical markers in knee osteoarthritis. He holds a NARIC UK certificate of compatibility of qualifications and was awarded the Indo-British Travelling Fellowship (2011) at King’s College London and Leicester General Hospital.

He has specialised training and a keen interest in Shoulder and Knee Surgery, Arthroscopy and Arthroplasty, Sports Orthopaedics, and the use of Orthobiologics — autologous chondrocytes for joint cartilage repair, autologous osteoblasts and stem cells for bone repair in avascular necrosis, and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) for musculotendinous problems.

He is actively involved in orthopaedic research and clinical audit, with more than ten peer-reviewed publications, over a dozen clinical audits spanning India and the UK, and numerous guest lectures at national and international conferences. In addition to extensive clinical and teaching experience, he brings long-standing administrative experience including former Editorship of the Orthopaedic Journal of MP Chapter IOA (2010—2012) and Hon. Secretaryship of the Indore Orthopaedic Association (2007—2008).
